 Friday, 25 december 20092nd stage of Sochi Cogeneration Plant put into operationThe second stage of Sochi Cogeneration Plant (branch of JSC INTER RAO UES, Russia) has been commissioned and put into operation with the nominal electric capacity of 80MW. Upon commissioning of the 2nd stage, total electric capacity of Sochi Cogeneration Plant has been increased up to 160 MW and thermal capacity up to 50 Gcal. The power generating equipment lease project for Sochi Cogeneration Plant was launched by BUSINESS ALLIANCE Leasing Company in 2008. Under the terms of an 8-year lease agreement BALC organized the purchase, integrated delivery, assembling and installation of the following leased assets:
The total contract value equals USD 3.0 bn. For the implementation of the project, BALC obtained a loan from the Bank of Moscow. Sochi Cogeneration Plant (Russian: “Sochinskaya TES”) is a thermal power station of federal level with an installed capacity of 160 MW. The power plant is based in the major sea-mountain resort of Russia in Krasnodar Region. It supplies Sochi daily energy consumption and is targeted to fully provide energy during the XXII Winter Olympic Games 2014. Sochi Cogeneration Plant is the flagship of the nation’s power industry in terms of its technical, economic and environmental performance and it has no counterparts in Russia. JSC INTER RAO UES is a fast growing energy company with a number of generation and distribution assets in Russia and abroad. The total installed capacity of the electric power stations controlled or owned by the company is about 18.000 MW.
